Since last July’s launch of Zelle, the company has grown from just 30 participating financial institutions to over 100. In addition, the company has experienced double-digit growth in users, network volume, and transactions each quarter since its launch. As the company continues to grow, it is threatening to bypass Venmo based on the number of users. In August, 2017, Competiscan published a launch report titled: Zelle: The U.S. Banking Industry’s Response to Venmo that outlined the communications strategy pre- and post-Venmo launch. As a brief follow-up to that report, the following slides include select marketing communications observed since the August 2017 report, followed by the findings of the previous Summer 2017 launch report.
