Amazon is disrupting not just the retail industry but other sectors as well including the automotive, entertainment, healthcare, insurance and telecom spaces (to name a few). This week Amazon reported the biggest shopping days in its history with consumers purchasing 180 million products worldwide during the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Its number one best-selling item was the third generation Echo Dot, a voice-enabled smart speaker featuring its virtual assistant, Alexa. Users can extend Alexa’s capabilities by installing “skills” (i.e. additional functionality developed by third-party vendors such as insurance carriers and financial service providers).

Given its increasingly disruptive influence, Competiscan surveyed our consumer panelists in order to understand the penetration and perception of Amazon.com features and devices.
