Efforts to keep sensitive account information safe continue to evolve. This evolution is necessary, given the myriad of ways consumer information can wind up in the hands of criminals. Last week, Competiscan observed an email from Advantage Financial FCU alerting members of a card cracking scam. Last month, FAIRWINDS Credit Union alerted members of a phone scam called “spoofing”. Beyond scams targeting single individuals, large scale data breaches continue to occur at an alarming rate. Already this year, as of April 1st, 2018, the Identity Theft Resource Center has reported 90 data breaches.

Competiscan put together a report highlighting some of the ways financial institutions are communicating with their customers about account security. Given the news from Advantage Financial FCU, a special interest was paid to debit cards and banking.

Competiscan captures the full customer experience: notification of a breach or scam, safety tips, security enhancements, customer requirements, post-fraud communications and more.

Competiscan clients can access the report here. Not a client? Write to contactus@competiscan.com to learn more.
